Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir retire from International Cricket

LAHORE: All-rounder Imad Wasim and left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir have officially announced their retirements from international cricket, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed in a press release.
The duo, Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir, last represented Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, held in the USA and West Indies.
“It has been an incredible journey to represent my country and fulfil my dream. I thank the fans for their unwavering support and the PCB for their guidance. I look forward to cheering for Pakistan cricket from the sidelines,” Imad said in his farewell statement.
Amir echoing similar sentiments, said, “Playing for Pakistan has been an honour. This is a tough decision, but the right one for me. It’s time for the next generation to step up and take Pakistan cricket forward. I am grateful to the PCB and the fans for their support throughout my career.”

PCB COO Sumair Ahmad Syed lauded the players for their contributions. “On behalf of the PCB, I extend heartfelt gratitude to Amir and Imad for their services to Pakistan cricket. We wish them success in their future endeavors.”
Imad, 35, began his international career in May 2015 against Zimbabwe and played 55 ODIs and 75 T20Is, taking 117 wickets and scoring 1,540 runs. Over his 130-match international career, he became a vital part of Pakistan’s white-ball squad.
Amir, 32, made his debut in June 2009 and enjoyed a decorated career, playing 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is. He claimed 271 wickets across all formats and scored 1,179 runs. Known for his lethal swing bowling, Amir was a standout performer for Pakistan in key tournaments.
