ISLAMABAD: India Women were defeated after South Africa Women successfully chased down a target of 252 runs, winning by 7 wickets in the 10th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
India Women had earlier posted 251 all out in 49.5 overs against South Africa. During the chase, captain Laura Wolvaardt anchored the innings with a hard-fought 70 off 111 balls, though wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. India’s spinners — led by Sneh Rana and Kranti Goud — applied consistent pressure, making it difficult for the Proteas to score freely.
However, the momentum shifted when Chloe Tryon (49) and Nadine de Klerk (84 not out) combined for a crucial lower-order partnership that stabilized the innings and guided South Africa to victory.
Earlier, South Africa had won the toss and opted to field first, aiming to restrict the South Asian side to a manageable total — a plan that paid off as they secured a confident win in the group stage clash.
