WEB DESK: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed the Pakistan cricket board (PCB) on Friday that they will not be traveling to Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
Instead, the BCCI urged Pakistan to reschedule their games in Dubai. Previously, the PCB offered to hold all of India’s matches in Lahore and allow them to return to India, either to Chandigarh or New Delhi, after each gain due to security concerns.
However, ICC broadcasters also informed the PCB that they would prefer multiple venues for India’s matches in the tournament.
Champions Trophy: Schedule to be revealed soon
Indian Express quoted a source in regards to India’s decision, stating that “this has been our stance and there is no reason to change that. We have written to them and asked them to shift our games to Dubai.”
HYBRID-MODEL
The PCB clarified earlier on Friday that the 2025 Champions Trophy would not employ a hybrid model as suggested by the BCCI. A source stated that “no consideration is being given to any hybrid model.”
If the PCB and BCCI are unable to come to an agreement, Sri Lanka, who was set to miss out on the Champions Trophy for the first ever time after failing to secure a top eight finish in the ODI World Cup 2023, may join the tournament in India’s stead.
