Australia score lowest ever total against Pakistan in ODI’s

Australia

ADELAIDE: Pakistan were in control of the second ODI against Australia on Friday, as they ended the Aussies innings within 35 overs, only allowing 163 runs, the lowest score they have ever scored against Pakistan in ODI’s.

The men in green got off to an incredible start. Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi dominated, taking five and three wickets respectively. Mohammad Hasnain and Naseem Shah took one wicket each as well.

HARIS RAUF FIVE-FER

Haris Rauf was the star of Pakistan’s bowlers. He took five wickets in his stellar performance, beginning with Josh Inglis, as the Australian wicket-keeper was sent off in the 14th over. Haris Rauf’s delivery found the glove of Inglis on its way to Rizwan.

Rauf picked up his second wicket in the 16th over by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne on a delivery that found the edge of the Australian’s bat before Rizwan took the catch. He picked up his third wicket 10 overs later, dismissing Aaron Hardie after the Australian all-rounder tried his best to survive an incredible delivery from the Pakistani fast bowler. Unfortunate for Australia, the delivery found yet another edge as Muhammad Rizwan continued to take catches as he had been doing all game long.

The Pakistani fast bowlers fourth wicket came by dismissing Glenn Maxwell in the 28th over. Maxwell tried to pull the ball leg side, only for him to ricochet the ball into the stumps.

Australia skipper Pat Cummins fell in the 32nd over, giving Haris Rauf his fifth and final wicket of the match. Rizwan took his sixth catch of the match, tying Sarfaraz Ahmed’s ODI record for most catches in an ODI match, as Rauf’s delivery found the edge of Cummins’ bat. Rizwan had an opportunity to break the record soon after, but dropped a catch that would have dismissed Adam Zampa and ended Australia’s innings.

SHAHEEN SHAH AFRIDI

Adam Zampa was the final man to be dismissed for Australia, on a delivery from Shaheen Afridi that splayed the stumps.

Shaheen picked up his first two wickets earlier in the match, beginning with Jake Fraser-McGurk who made his exit in the third over. Fraser-McGurk only managed to make 13 runs on 10 deliveries, hitting three fours in the process, before Shaheen’s delivery hit the pads of the Australian abtter. Australia chose not to review, which replay confirmed was the right choice.

Matthew Short would be dismissed in the seventh over after scoring 19 runs off 15 deliveries, hitting three fours of his own. Shaheen Afridi would pick up his second wicket on a delivery that Short blasted straight to Babar Azam for the catch. It was a relief for the fast bowler considering he dropped a catch that would have sent off Short earlier in the fourth over.

NASEEM SHAH

Rizwan took his fifth catch of the day on a delivery from Naseem Shah as Naseem Shah’s delivery in the 29th over found the edge of Mitchell Starc’s bat before the ball made its way to Pakistan’s trusty wicket-keeper.

MOHAMMAD HASNAIN

Mohammad Hasnain picked up his only wicket after Smith tried his hand at another cut. It proved to be effective before, however this time, he only managed to get the edge of his bat on the delivery before the ball settled in the gloves of Rizwan. Smith made 35 runs, the highest total for Australia.
