Moeen Ali shines in KKK debut against RR

GUWAHATI: Moeen Ali impressed everyone as he debuted for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premiere League (IPL) 2025 match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
He stepped in for Sunil Narine, KKR’s leading wicket-taker, who was unviable due to an illness.

On a dry pitch in Gawahati, Moeen Ali delivered a strong performance, taking two wickets at a loss of 23 runs. He helped KKR secure their first win of the season.
The English cricketer’s ability to contain runs and apply pressure was evident as he played a key role in restricting RR to a total of 151 for 9.
Moeen’s bowling strategy was effective, particularly in dismissing key players. He took the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who waqs caught at long-on.
The bowler also dismissed Nitish Rana with a delivery that turned away from the left-handed batter, hitting the middle stump.
Ali noted that his understanding of the batting helped inform his bowling decisions.
Having retired from international cricket, the 37-year-old has devoted his attention to various international tournaments and leagues.

The conditions of the Barsapara Stadium favoured Moeen and Chakravarthy; their combined figures of eight overs, 40 runs and four wicket was critical in KKR’s victory.
