LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi congratulated Sana Mir, one of Pakistan’s most decorated women cricketers, for her induction into the International Cricket Council (ICC) Hall of Fame.
Sana, who is the highest wicket taker in ODIs and the second highest in T20Is among Pakistani women, became the first Pakistani woman to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame on Monday. In her storied career, Sana captained the national team for eight years, leading the team to two Asian Games gold medals, in 2010 and 2014. She was also named the number one ranked ODI bowler in the world in 2018, becoming the first Pakistani woman cricket to do so.
The Pakistani spin bowler has played 120 ODIs and 106 T20Is, taking 151 and 89 wickets in the two formats respectively. Sana also impressed with the bat during her career, scoring 1630 runs in the ODI format, including three half centuries.

“Well done, Sana Mir. The daughter of Pakistan has brought great honour to the motherland,” Naqvi said.
While Sana’s captaincy and personal performances were fantastic, her greatest achievement may be speaking up for women’s rights and inspiring women all around the country to take up the sport. She was named the ambassador of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in 2024. Sana has also been outspoken on topics such as body shaming and mental health.
“Sana Mir’s achievement boosts the morale of every daughter in the nation.”
Sana’s best performance in the shortest format came against Ireland in 2009 in her second ever match, when she took four wickets while only conceding 13 runs. A year later, she would haver her best performance in the 50 over format in a match against Netherlands, as she took her first and only five wicket haul.
“Today, one Sana Mir has been honoured. God willing, the day is not far when many Pakistani women cricketers will achieve this honour,” Naqvi said.
