Mustafizur Rahman dominates Afghanistan in 1st ODI

Rahman

SHARJAH: Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets before giving up five runs as Afghanistan struggled to get going in the first ODI of the series on Wednesday.

MUSTAFIZUR RAHMAN

Rahman’s first wicket came in his first over, and the eighth over of the match. He dismissed Afghanistan’s Rahmat Shah who only managed to score two ruins before being dismissed on the 13th delivery he faced. Rahman’s delivery found the outside edge of Shah’s bat, before the ball landed in the gloves of Bangladesh wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim.

Rahman would continue his momentum in the 10th over, dismissing both Sediqullah Atal and Azmatullah Omarzai. Atal fell first on the second ball of the over, as Rahman’s delivery found the Afghanistan batters front pad. Afghanistan opted to save their review, as Atal walked back to the pavilion.

Omarzai fell three balls later on the third delivery he faced. He was sent off for a duck as Rahman’s delivery took another edge on its way to Rahim’s gloves. A loud appeal followed, and the umpire obliged once again.

TASKIN AHMED

Afghanistan lost two other wickets, courtesy of Taskin Ahmed. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the first man to be sent off, as he was dismissed in the second over of the match after only making five runs from seven deliveries. Ahmed found an edge and Rahim did the rest.

He would take his second wicket in the 20th over, after Gulbadin Naib shot the ball towards the man at short mid-wicket Tanzid Hasan, who took the catch.

Afghanistan currently stand at 120 for 5 after 29 overs.
