Pakistan and Bangladesh to hold white ball series in May

Pakistan Bangladesh

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have agreed to a white ball series scheduled for this May.

It was revealed earlier this month that the two boards were discussing a white-ball series. While originally planned as part of the International Cricket Council’s Future Tour Programme (FTP), the schedule of all upcoming series between member countries, the busy schedules of both sides put the series in doubt.

It has now been confirmed that the Bangladesh team will be touring Pakistan shortly after the conclusion of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on May 18. Both an ODI and T20 series will be held, with three matches played in each. Sources have also stated that Lahore and Faisalabad are being considered as possible venues.

Bangladesh most recently toured Pakistan in 2024 and whitewashed the home side in a two match test series. However, it will mark the first white-ball bilateral series between the two since 2021, when Pakistan travelled to Bangladesh and whitewashed the home team in both the three match T20I series and the two match test series.

It has been over a decade since the two teams had an ODI bilateral series, with the last tour in the format coming in 2015, when Bangladesh whitewashed the touring men in green in the three match ODI series.

The two teams have played each other 39 times in the 50 over format, with Pakistan winning the vast majority, as Bangladesh only managed to win five of those matches. In regards to T20Is, the two sides have played each other 19 times, and Pakistan has won 16 of them.
