Pakistan claims title at Baba Guru Nanak Kabaddi Cup 2025


The Pakistan Eagles emerge victorious at the Sarsabx Baba Guru Nanak International Kabaddis Cup, defeating Iran’s Lions of Tabriz with a score of 54-26 in the championship match held at the WAPDA Sports Complex.

KARACHI: The Pakistan Eagles won the Baba Guru Nanak Kabaddi Cup 2025, defeating Iran’s Lions of Tabriz with a score of 54-26 in the championship match held at the WAPDA Sports Complex.

The Pakistani team established a significant lead of 30-13 by half-time, demonstrating their strength and gameplay throughout the contest.

In the final, Pakistan’s team displayed exceptional strength and skulls, maintaining control over the game from the outset. Despite attempts by the Iranian squad to narrow the gap, the Eagles’ strong defensive tactics and effective offensive plays ensured they retained their advantage, concluding the match with an 18-point lead.

The tri-nation Baba Guru Nanak Kabaddi Cup 2025 was organised by the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF). It featured teams from Pakistan, India and Iran, with a prize cap of Rs2 million along with a trophy for the winners.

Meanwhile, the runners-up, Lions of Tabriz, were presented with a trophy and Rs1.5 million, while India’s SPGC Tigers, who withdrew from the final due to injuries and visa complications, were awarded a third-place prize of Rs1 million.

Originally, the Indian Tigers were scheduled to face the Pakistan Eagles in the final. However, injuries to several key players and visa issues led to their withdrawal, allowing Iran’s Lions of Tabriz to compete in the championship match.

The three-day tournament, which took place from April 16 till April 18, attracted several high-profile officials, including the Chairperson of WAPDA, and representatives from the Iranian consulate.
