Bangladesh set Pakistan 134-run target in second T20

DHAKA: Bangladesh set Pakistan a target of 134 runs in the second T20 of the three-match series being played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday.

For Bangal Tigers, Zakir Ali was the top-scorer with 55 runs.

Mehidy Hasan chipped in with 33 runs, while Parvez Hossain made 13 and Litton Das added 8.

However, the hosts struggled throughout the innings, with seven of their batters failing to reach double figures.

Mohammad Naim (3) and Tanzim Hasan (7) also failed to offer much resistance.

Pakistan’s bowlers kept the pressure tight, with Salman Mirza, Ahmed Daniyal and Abbas Afridi claiming two wickets each.

Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz took one wicket apiece.

Pakistan had opted to field after winning the toss. Captain Agha Salman said the decision to bowl first was influenced by moisture on the pitch, adding that the team would try to take early wickets and restrict Bangladesh to a low total.

The match is crucial for Pakistan, who are trailing 0-1 in the series after losing the opening game. A win today is essential for the visitors to stay in contention and level the T20 series.

What went wrong for Pakistan at World Junior Squash Championship

Pakistan have made one change to their line-up, bringing in Sahibzada Farhan in place of Fakhar Zaman as they continue to provide opportunities to younger players.

Bangladesh has maintained its winning combination for the 2nd T20, while Pakistan made one change to their playing Xi – including Ahmed Daniyal, who is making his debut in the Pakistan team.

Poor Performance in opening T20

In the first match, Bangladesh easily defeated Pakistan by seven wickets. The Green Shirts not only had lost the match, but also had two negative records to their name.

The Pakistan team came out to bat first at the invitation of the host captain, but the entire team returned to the pavilion for 110 runs in just 19.3 overs, presenting a flop show of batting.

This was the first time in the 23 matches played between Pakistan and Bangladesh so far that the national team could not play the full 20 overs and the Bangladesh bowlers bowled them out in just 19.3 overs.

Moreover, when the Pakistan team returned to the pavilion for 110 runs, it was their lowest score against Bangladesh.

However, instead of owning the team’s mistakes, Pakistan’s head coach Mike Hesson had described the Bangladeshi pitches as substandard.

It should be noted that the Pakistan cricket team last visited Bangladesh in 2021 for a three-match T20 series, which they won in a clean sweep.
