LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) convened an important meeting on Friday to discuss preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.

Key decisions regarding the tournament logistics, venue preparations and marketing strategies were on the meeting’s agenda, as PCB aims to present Pakistan as a capable host nation.

The meeting also addressed the drafting of players for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10. The PSL has gained significant traction in the cricket-crazy country since its inception, contributing heavily to domestic cricket participation and providing a platform to showcase local talent.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is also establishing a sub-office in Lahore this month to support the PCB in its preparations for the Champions Trophy.

To facilitate the organisation of the tournament, the PCB has planned to form several committees each responsible for specific aspects of the event, including operations and fan engagements.

Sameer Ahmed Syed was appointed as the tournament director for the Champions Trophy 2025, responsible for the entire event’s execution.

The Champions Trophy has a rich history, with its inaugural tournament held in 1998. Despite a short timeframe, it has gone on to become one of most prestigious tournaments in the Gentlemen Game’s history.

The 2025 iteration of the Champions Trophy is set to take place in Pakistan this year, marking a huge moment for the country after international isolation of several decades due to terrorism and security issues.
