PCB unleashes ICC Men’s T20 World Cup anthem: ‘Sadi Vari Oye’


LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released its official anthem “Sadi Vari Oye” for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Saturday.

The song was released on the official YouTube channel “Pakistan Cricket” and has already amassed more than 100,000 views.

Aptly named ‘Sadi Vari Oye’, the anthem pays tribute to the unyielding support of Pakistani cricket fans.

Renowned musical talents Ali Azmat, Arif Lohar, and Nehaal Naseem lent their vocals to the the anthem, giving the song a purely distinctive Pakistani style.

Farhan Zameer, Nehaal Naseem, Tehseen Chishty, Arif Lohar, and Khwaja Faheem composed the song. Sadi Vari Oye promises to resonate with not just cricket fans but Pakistanis across the nation.

As the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup commences, fans eagerly await Pakistan first encounter with the US on June 5.

Meanwhile, the hosts will take on old rivals Canada on Sunday (today) in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup opener.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup first took place in 2007. The International Cricket Council organises the tournament every few years. The world cup is hosted in different countries each edition, with past locations including South Africa, England, the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and India.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the UAE and Oman hosted the 2021 tournament. Meanwhile, the United States and the West Indies are jointly hosting the 2024 edition.

20 teams are participating in the tournament this year. Teams qualify either as ICC full members or through a qualification tournament. During the event, teams compete in group stages, with rankings based on points, wins, and other factors. In case of a tie, a “super over” decides the outcome.

The winning team receives the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy, made of silver and rhodium.

Previous champions include India, Pakistan, England, the West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Australia. England won the 2022 tournament, defeating Pakistan in the final.
