The West Indies wrapped up a clean sweep of their T20I series against South Africa, highlighting their dominance in this format. Since March 2023, the two teams have clashed in T20Is ten times, with the West Indies emerging victorious in eight of those matches. This includes back-to-back 3-0 series wins around the T20 World Cup. Their latest victory came in a rain-affected game in Trinidad.
The series finale was delayed by an hour due to rain, but no overs were lost when play finally started. Another weather interruption midway through South Africa’s innings cut the game down to 13 overs per side after a 70-minute break.

South Africa’s score of 108 for 4 lacked standout individual performances, a recurring issue for them in the series. They struggled against West Indies spinners Akeal Hosein and stand-in captain Roston Chase, who together gave away only 22 runs in five overs. Tristan Stubbs was the only South African to score more than 30 runs, setting West Indies a revised target of 116.
The West Indies were briefly on the back foot when Bjorn Fortuin dismissed Alick Athanaze in the first over. However, Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran quickly turned the game around with a rapid second-wicket partnership of 58 off just 20 balls. Hope and Shimron Hetmyer then added an unbeaten 56-run stand to seal the win with 22 balls to spare.
