ST GEORGE: England thrashed Namibia by 41 runs in the 34th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup match on Saturday.

Namibia won the toss and opted to field against England, a decision that proved costly. The English team set a target of 123 runs for the Namibians, who fell very, very short.

Due to the DLS method adjusting for rain, Namibia was set a target of 126 runs to win. The DLS (Duckworth-Lewis-Stern) method is a mathematical formula used in cricket to adjust target scores in limited-overs matches affected by weather interruptions.

It calculates a revised target for the team batting second based on the number of overs lost and the resources (wickets and balls remaining) available.

Nimbi only managed to scrap together 84 runs at a loss of three wickets. Namibia’s opener Michael van Langen scored 33 runs off 29 balls, including 3 sixes and a four. Nicholas Dion contributed 16 runs and David Welle scored 27 runs.

England’s innings saw captain Josh Buttler dismissed without scoring, while opener Phil Salt scored 11 runs off 8 balls. Harry Brook remained unbeaten with 47 runs off 20 balls, featuring 2 sixes and 4 fours. Jonny Bairstow contributed 31 runs, Moeen Ali scored 16 runs, and Liam Livingstone added 13 runs.
