Tayyab Ikram from Pakistan reelected president of International Hockey Federation

MUSCAT: Tayyab Ikram was reelected unopposed as the President of the Intentional Hockey Federation (FIH) for an eight-year term.
The election makes Tayyab Ikram the first president in FIH history to serve such an extended duration, following amendments to the FIH constitution that allow for longer presidential terms.

The announcement of Ikram’s reelection occurred during the FIH Congress in Muscat, Oman. His new term will extend until 2032, during which time he will lead the federation as its aims to improve the global profile of hockey.
Ikran’s leadership is expected to focus on the development and promotion of the sport worldwide.
A Lahorite, Ikram served as the acting president of the FIH for the past two years after Narinder Batra’s resignation. His election as the sole candidate highlights his strong support base within the federation
Following his election, Ikram stated “It is a great privilege to be appointed as president of the world of hockey, I now have the opportunity to contribute even more and I will do everything I can to advance the sport of hockey “.
Ikram previously secured the presidency by defeating Belgium’s Marc Coudron with a vote tally of 79 to 47.

The elections for other positions within the FIH were also discussed, with nominations confirmed.
While Ikram is the sole candidate for the president’s position, there is competition for the two female positions on the FIH Ordinary Executive Board.
Candidates include Danae Andrada Barrios, Katrin Kauschke, and Hazel Kennedy.
The male positions for the FIH Ordinary Executive Board will see a contest among Albert Daniel Budeisky, Erik Cornelissen and Deon James Morgan.

The Election Oversight Panel (EOP) will oversee the election process during the Congress.
