MMA: Usman Nurmagomedov to defend Bellator title against Alexandr Shabliy

SAN DIEGO: Usman Nurmagomedov will defend his lightweight title against Alexandr Shabliy on September 7 in San Diego, United States (US), Bellator officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The fight was originally scheduled for May, however, it was postponed due to Nurmagomedov’s injury.

Nurmagomedov, undefeated as a professional, will face Alexandr Shabliy, who holds a record of 24 wins and 3 losses, with an impressive 5-0 record in Bellator. Shabliy earned his title shot by defeating former lightweight champion Patricky Pitbull.
Following a six-month suspension due to a failed drug test, Nurmagomedov returns to the cage determined to maintain his dominance in Bellator’s lightweight division.
Bellator plans to announce additional fights for the card in the coming weeks, with the event set to air live in the United States.
