West Indies ODI series: Pakistan sent to bat first

TAROUBA: The rival team of West Indies has decided to field first after winning the toss for the Second One-Day International clash of the series against Pakistan at Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.

The rival team’s captain Shai Hope said during his interview that their decision to choose field first was mandatory as the weather condition is unpredictable.

“We will aim to contain the Pakistani players during the game so that their target remains within reach, helping to balance the ongoing series.”

The national team’s captain Mohammad Rizwan also appreciated the team’s performance that went amazingly during the opening match of the ODI series against rival West Indies.

He said that the performances of the new players entering into the team are welcoming, appreciating others for their winning performance that they ensured in the first victory of the West Indies series.

Pakistan has given a chance to experienced players Hassan Ali, Muhammad Ibrar and Muhammad Nawaz, resting Faheem Ashraf, Sufiyan Muqeem and Naseem Shah for this clash of the series.

Chasing 281, Pakistan reached their target with 7 balls to spare. The Green Shirts overcame early setbacks with an unbeaten lower-order partnership.

Afridi’s record high ODI wickets

As fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah went superb, they limited the rival team to a minimum target of 281 runs for the Greens’ batters who easily chased it.

WI vs PAK ODI series: national team in struggle as top batters downed

During the match, both the seasoned bowlers Afridi and Shah took 4 and 3 wickets each respectively, with the former crushing 131 batters within just 65 matches.

Afridi’s 131 wickets from just 65 games on ground ranked him the world’s highest ODI wicket-taker. Earlier, this record was with the Afghanistan’s magical spinner Rashid Khan who had gained 128 wickets from 65 clashes.
