WEB DESK: Australia completed a clean sweep of the T20 series against West Indies, winning the fifth and final match by three wickets in Basseterre, Saint Kitts. The result gave Australia a 5-0 series win, following a 3-0 sweep in the preceding Test series, marking an unbeaten eight-match tour.
Chasing 171, Australia reached the target with 18 balls to spare. Mitchell Owen led the scoring with 37 off 17 balls. Cameron Green (32), Tim David (30), and Aaron Hardie (28 not out) also chipped in to help secure the win.
Ben Dwarshuis took three wickets and was named player of the match. He dismissed Shimron Hetmyer, who top-scored for the hosts with 52 off 31 balls, along with Brandon King (11) and Shai Hope (9).
Australia captain Mitchell Marsh said the team had focused on finishing the series strongly after securing the fourth game.
“We knew no Australian team had completed a clean sweep here,” Marsh said. “We had different players come in and perform in key moments.”
The match featured 15 sixes, something Marsh attributed to the small ground size. He said Australia backed their batting depth and encouraged players to stick to their natural game.

Marsh also credited his bowlers for their control in the final overs across the series. “In the last four overs across the five games, we didn’t go for more than 40 or 50 runs,” he said. “Ellis, Abbott, Dwarshuis, and Bartlett all played their roles well.”
Australia now head home for a limited-overs series against South Africa, while West Indies prepare to face Pakistan in three T20Is and three ODIs.
