Apple’s iOS 18 may incorporate AI features from OpenAI, Google

WEB DESK: Apple is reportedly in discussions with both OpenAI and Google to power artificial intelligence (AI) in its upcoming operating system iOS 18.

According to reports, iOS 18 could include advanced AI features. This suggests that Apple may integrate technologies such as “ChatGPT” from OpenAI or “Gemini” from Google into its iOS.

Rumours suggest that negotiations between Apple and OpenAI have resumed and even ‘intensified’, hinting at the possibility of OpenAI’s AI tools appearing in new Apple products. Similarly, talks with Google about using its AI-powered Gemini have also reportedly restarted.

Apple’s interest in partnering with both OpenAI and Google shows the growing significance of AI in shaping the future of technology. While tech giants are investing heavily in generative AI, collaboration between two tech rivals is a unique situation.

While the company has remained silent about its AI plans, Apple’s chief executive officer (CEO) had previously hinted at “major AI-powered updates” later this year.

Apple is expected to unveil its new hardware and software offerings later this year at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. It’s expected that the company will unveil its AI plans during the conference. If Apple decides to partner with either OpenAI or Google, it will most likely be disclosed then.
