iPhone 17 Air leaks reveal bold new camera bar design

iPhone 17 Air

WEB DESK: The past week has been busy for Apple, with news spanning across iPhone leaks, iPad upgrades, and some surprising market trends. Let’s dive into the key highlights.

Leaks suggest that Apple might be taking a page from Google’s Pixel playbook with the upcoming iPhone 17 Air, which could feature a “camera bar” running across the back of the phone.

This design would accommodate a larger camera lens, with a single lens on one side, a flash, and a microphone cutout on the opposite end. While this is still speculation, it’s creating quite a buzz among tech enthusiasts.

iPhone SE set for a redesign

The iPhone SE is known for its budget-friendly appeal, and the next-generation SE could adopt the Dynamic Island feature, a staple of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 models. This marks a shift from the traditional notch design, giving the SE a more modern look without losing its affordable charm.

The upcoming iPad Air will reportedly feature Apple’s M3 chipset. While there was speculation about using the M4 chip, it seems Apple opted for the older M3 to avoid higher manufacturing costs. Still, the M3 should provide plenty of power for most users, continuing Apple’s reputation for performance.

Apple Intelligence: AI by default

Apple is turning on its AI suite, Apple Intelligence, by default in upcoming updates. With the release of macOS Sequoia 15.3 and iOS 18.3, users will see AI-powered features activated automatically, though the option to disable them will still be available in the settings.

AirPods Pro 2: Hearing test coming to the UK

In a move to enhance the AirPods Pro 2 experience, Apple is set to bring its hearing test feature to UK users. Previously available only in the US, the feature is designed to improve accessibility, pending regulatory approval.

Apple faced a setback in the Chinese market, with iPhone shipments dropping by 18.2 per cent year-on-year in the final quarter of 2024. This pushed Apple down to third place behind Huawei and Xiaomi, who now lead the market.

Nokia’s reaction to the first iPhone

As Nokia’s archives opened last week, old documents reveal their thoughts on Apple’s first iPhone release. While Nokia didn’t see the iPhone as a major financial threat at the time, they acknowledged its potential to disrupt the industry, especially in the US market.
