WEB DESK: In a strategic move to enhance job creation and stimulate growth in the Information Technology (IT) sector, the government has announced the establishment of ten new Software Technology Parks across the country by next year.

According to Radio Pakistan, this announcement was made during a briefing by the Ministry of Information Technology at a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

The meeting also revealed plans to set up 100 new e-employment centres nationwide by 2025, further bolstering job opportunities in the digital domain.

A significant highlight of the briefing was the update on the Islamabad IT Park project, set for completion in 2025 through a collaboration with South Korea. This facility will cater to startups, incubation centres, banks, restaurants, and various other amenities, positioning it as a key player in the region’s tech ecosystem.

Additionally, South Korea is partnering with Pakistan to establish another IT park near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, slated for completion by 2027.

To date, more than 40 software technology parks have been established in 29 cities across Pakistan, underscoring the country’s commitment to expanding its IT infrastructure.

In a related development, the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) granted approval in March for the creation of Pakistan’s largest IT Park in Islamabad’s G-10 sector.

Spanning 3.3 acres, this park will feature a state-of-the-art research centre, a comprehensive library, software houses, conference rooms, dedicated workspaces for freelancers and startups, and an exhibition area for showcasing innovative IT products.

These initiatives are expected to significantly contribute to Pakistan’s IT sector, creating numerous job opportunities and fostering an environment conducive to technological advancements and innovation.
