When will Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge be officially available in Pakistan?

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge price and launch date in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, a slimmer variant of its flagship smartphone, in an unexpectedly timed launch — raising curiosity over its availability in Pakistan.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is not yet available in Pakistan. However, it will go on sale in South Korea on May 23 and in the United States on May 30. Measuring just 5.8 millimetres thick and weighing 163 grams, it features a 6.7-inch display, making it one of the thinnest smartphones currently on the market.

Samsung plans to roll out the device across 30 countries, including China and several European markets. In Pakistan, the phone is expected to arrive by late May or June 2025 at official Samsung outlets.

While the exact launch date for Pakistan remains unconfirmed, it is expected to cost more than the base PTA-approved iPhone 16 models. The official price announced by Samsung is $1,099 — roughly Rs308,670 before taxes and PTA approval charges. After including these costs, the final price of Galaxy S25 Edge in Pakistan could go up to Rs400,000 or even higher, depending on the storage capacity.

Interestingly, despite being named the “Edge”, the new model does not seem to carry the significant curved-screen design that earlier “Edge” phones were known for — such as the Galaxy S6 Edge and S7 Edge. Those models had distinctively curved displays that justified the branding. Even the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10 had curved screens, though Samsung did not label them as “Edge” devices.

Consumers hoping to import the Galaxy S25 Edge or get it unofficially approved through CPID or IMEI patching may be out of luck. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has imposed a ban on CPID-approved and IMEI-patched smartphones. Authorities have recently begun cracking down on the sale and use of such devices, meaning buyers will have to get the phone officially PTA-approved to use it with SIM cards in the country.

For context, the top-end Galaxy S25 Ultra model, once PTA approved, is priced as high as Rs550,000 in Pakistan.

This latest launch comes just under four months after Samsung’s main unveiling of the Galaxy S25 series in January — a surprising move, given that the company usually reserves mid-year for launching new foldable models. The early release suggests Samsung is looking to build on the momentum of its S25 series as it navigates increased competition from Chinese brands and global economic uncertainty.

Last month, Samsung reported a rise in revenue and profit for the first quarter, driven by strong demand for its S25 models. However, Daniel Araujo, vice president of Samsung’s mobile division, warned that smartphone demand may decline in the second quarter due to seasonal trends and evolving global trade policies.

While the United States briefly enforced “reciprocal” tariffs under President Donald Trump in April, the White House later paused them and exempted certain tech products — including smartphones and chips — offering some relief to companies like Samsung and Apple. The US and China have also agreed to pause most of their mutual tariffs.

Araujo noted that the Galaxy S25 Edge could help “sustain flagship-centric sales”, pointing to the strategic reasoning behind the early launch.
