Threads users reportedly to enjoy exclusive privacy options

Threads

WEB DESK: Threads users who wish to maintain the privacy of their posts and prevent cross-promotion on Facebook and Instagram will soon have more control over their content.

Reports indicate that Meta is actively developing additional privacy features for Threads, allowing users to limit the platform’s ability to feature their Threads posts on Facebook and Instagram.

This move comes in response to concerns raised after Meta quietly launched a promotional campaign in August. It utilised its more established platforms to showcase Threads posts, aiming to attract a larger user base.

Many Threads users expressed their dissatisfaction with their posts being shared on other platforms without their consent. They stressed the importance of maintaining separate followings on Threads and ensuring that their phone contacts did not gain access to their Threads accounts.

Although Threads experienced a strong initial launch, amassing 100 million users in its first week, the platform has since faced challenges in sustaining its popularity. Users quickly noticed the platform’s minimalist design and sought alternative options.

Nonetheless, Meta has been diligently working over the past few months to enhance Threads’ features. In addition to introducing a web-based version, the platform has incorporated more timeline options and introduced an edit button for user convenience.
