WhatsApp gives users control over website previews

WhatsApp new update 2024

WEB DESK: The latest update of WhatsApp for Android introduces a feature that addresses a common concern among users regarding link previews.

When sharing a website link in a chat, the app typically generates a preview displaying the webpage’s title, description, and thumbnail.

While this feature offers convenience, some users find it cluttersome and prefer to share links without previews.

To cater to this preference, WhatsApp has introduced a solution. In the latest beta version (2.24.7.12) reported by WABetaInfo, a new option called ‘Disable link previews’ is available.

Enabling this option prevents WhatsApp from loading previews when links are shared, eliminating the need to manually remove previews each time.

Accessing this feature is straightforward. Users can navigate to Settings, then Privacy, and finally Advanced to locate the ‘Disable link previews’ toggle.

Although there’s no specific timeline for its release in the stable version, it’s anticipated that WhatsApp will roll out this feature to the public in the coming weeks.
