Xbox Game Pass surprise: Gotham Knights joins Sept lineup

Gotham Knights

LOS ANGELES: Despite ongoing leaks plaguing Xbox, the gaming giant is pressing forward with its regular announcements, revealing a slew of new titles coming soon to Xbox Game Pass.

Among these announcements is the surprise inclusion of Gotham Knights, a title previously unrevealed. However, what truly sets this lineup apart are the day one releases, titles hitting Xbox Game Pass on the same day as their global release. This selection, combined with the Bloodborne-like Lies of P, makes for an enticing collection of games for subscribers.

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting a day one release like Party Animals, The Lamplighters League, Payday 3, or Cocoon, one of these is likely to be the star of the next Xbox Game Pass release. However, the real revelation is Gotham Knights.

Despite its October 2022 release and initial mixed reviews, the game offered deep insights for DC enthusiasts by daring to exclude Batman as a playable character and introducing unique RPG elements.

Is Gotham Knights worth revisiting?

With an array of day one releases in the latest Xbox Game Pass lineup, choosing to spend time on a game that has been out for a year may be a tough decision. Is Gotham Knights worth revisiting or experiencing for the first time?

The game has received several updates over its lifespan to address early issues, but our initial review awarded it a 3/5 due to significant flaws. An excerpt from the review is provided below to assist you in deciding whether Gotham Knights is worthy of your attention:

“Ultimately, I enjoyed Gotham Knights for what it was – a basic superhero game that provides players with plenty to do. It will not live up to the standard of the height of the Batman: Arkham series, but it’s still a fun game, especially if you want to just tune out and beat up some nameless thugs. There is plenty of room for improvement in Gotham Knights, but this game provides a solid enough foundation for future installments, and I enjoyed a game that looked at the wider Batman family rather than focusing on just one character.”
