KARACHI: The University of Karachi (KU) has increased fees by 30 per cent for the academic year 2024. The increase will apply only to admissions to the new academic session of BS and Masters programs.
The decision was taken during the meeting of the academic council chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Karachi, Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi.

In the meeting, it was also decided to discontinue the entrance test for third-year BS programs and instead grant admissions based on merit.
Earlier on September 25, teachers at the University of Karachi ended their 10-day boycott of classes after receiving assurances from the provincial government that their pending payments would be cleared soon.
The teachers, who had been protesting since September 22 over non-payment of arrears and increments, resumed their academic duties after meeting with the secretary of universities and boards, who represented the caretaker chief minister of Sindh.
