Khyber Pakhtunkhwa govt terminates 601 projects, expects Rs 473b savings

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has terminated 601 development projects, according to a document from the Planning and Development (P&D) Department.

According to details, 391 projects have been dropped, the scope of 155 has been limited, and 55 projects have been frozen.

The document notes the termination of 37 higher education projects, 39 health projects, 48 irrigation projects, and nine Revenue & Estate Department (Board of Revenue) projects.

The document states that ending these projects will save Rs 473 billion. The rationalisation of the projects was directed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur during a meeting held on April 3.

The document details the completion of 47 road construction projects, resulting in savings of Rs 76.27 billion. Additionally, 66 multi-sector development projects have been completed, saving Rs 74.53 billion. By ending 46 projects in primary and secondary education, Rs 47.86 billion will be saved.
