Top Jamaat-ul-Ahrar commander allegedly killed

TTP

ISLAMABAD: Sarbakaf Mohmand, a commander of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA) and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has allegedly been killed.

According to sources, Mohmand’s death is linked to the internal differences between the two factions of the terrorist organisation.

Reports of the poisoning of Mohmand have been circulating on the social media accounts operated by terrorist organisations.

The JuA, originally an offshoot of the TTP, parted ways with the latter before they re-merged in 2020.

Despite the merger, the two groups remained at odds with each other. Issues related to the control of territory, kidnapping, ranson and extortion often led to in-fighting.

Sources claimed that Mohmand was the mastermind behind several terrorist acts including the fatal Peshawar mosque attack on January 2023 that left at least 84 people dead.

Mohmand was also associated with spreading anti-Pakistan propaganda on social media account named “Ghazi”.
