China unveils world’s premier peony-derived diamond

WEB DESK: Henan province of China has showcased the world’s inaugural diamond crafted from elements derived from peonies. This historic unveiling took place in Luoyang city.

The dazzling 3-carat gem was meticulously crafted from the red peonies sourced from the national flower garden in Luoyang. The premier peony diamond was donated to the Luoyang National Peony Garden by Luoyang Time Promise Co. It is estimated to be valued at an impressive 300,000 yuan (approx. $41,400).

Wang Jing, the leader of the pioneering company, elucidated on the intricate process behind this marvel of modern craftsmanship. Employing their cutting-edge biogenic carbon extraction technology, the carbon elements necessary for diamond formation were extracted from the essence of the peonies.

Through a rigorous regimen of high temperature and pressure, these elements were then carefully cultivated into the resplendent diamond that now captivates the world.

The journey towards this milestone achievement commenced with a partnership forged between the peony garden and the company in late March. Utilising a venerable peony, boasting nearly half a century of botanical heritage, the diamond cultivation process was set into motion.

Central to the transformative process is the manipulation of carbon elements, found abundantly in organic matter such as bones and hair, which constitute the very essence of diamonds. The company’s ingenious methodology involves the precise extraction of carbon elements within a specially designed apparatus.

By delicately severing the chemical bonds between these extracted carbon atoms, the groundwork is laid for their subsequent recombination into the coveted diamond structure.
