KABUL: Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araqchi arrived in Kabul on Sunday (January 26) to meet Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad, IEA-MoFA Director of Public Communication and Deputy Spokesman, posted a picture to his X account that showed Araqchi and Muttaqi greeting each other.

Reuters was not able to independently confirm the date or location the photo was filmed, but the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed their visit to Kabul on January 26 in an X post.

Baqaei said the visit could be “a turning point in leveraging the abundant ties between the two nations to ensure the mutual interests of the two countries”, in an X post.
