Iranian president calls for peace, engagement in foreign policy


Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made it clear that the focus of his foreign policy would be on promoting peace and increasing communication with the world.

TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that his foreign policy will prioritise promoting peace and improving global communication during a meeting with his new Cabinet and Iran’s Supreme Leader.

He stated that Iran seeks peace but will resist any hostility and oppose those who are hostile.

Addressing the first meeting with the Iranian president and his new cabinet, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei urged the government to achieve the highest standards of artificial intelligence (AI) and build its own infrastructure in AI sciences.

Khamenei said that Iran was known for carpets and oil in the past, but today it is known for science, regional power and strategic depth. He said the ability to influence the countries of the world is a very important matter, and this is an opportunity that Iran should seize.

The Supreme Leader warned that the world’s opportunists and those who want to gain power were trying to create an “artificial intelligence agency” so that other countries cannot develop in this field.

Khamenei stated that the cyberspaceit was “uncontrollable” and there should be a supremacy of law in this regard, otherwise, it will become a danger.

The Iranian president commented on the sanctions imposed by Western countries on Iran. He said that if Iran established friendly relations with all its neighbors, then the western sanctions would be ineffective.

Pezeshkian went on to state that Europeans opened their borders to each other, united and adopted one currency, but Muslims are building a wall between themselves.

The former heart surgeon talked about the importance of relations between Muslim countries. He remarked that all Muslims were brothers, and peace should be established between them.

He urged the Muslim world to follow the example of the European Union and work towards greater unity and cooperation.
