The uproarious incident unfolded as Nigel Farage, the maestro of the Reform UK (UKIP) party, bid adieu to a campaign soiree in Clacton-on-Sea, where he had earlier declared his candidacy for the Clacton constituency in the general election.
Following the milkshake mayhem, law enforcement nabbed a 44-year-old gentleman under suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, though he was soon released without further action.
This isn’t the first time Farage has been subjected to milkshake mischief. In May 2019, he found himself drenched in dairy during a jaunt, resulting in charges of common assault and criminal damage against the perpetrator.
“Milkshaking” the whimsical act of baptising public figures with milkshakes, burst into the limelight in 2019 as a unique form of political protest.
Farage’s return to the political limelight has sparked both adulation and anger, as he endeavours to secure a seat in the British parliament for the umpteenth time. He previously floundered in his attempts to politician-dom.
The Clacton calamity adds a dollop of drama to an already sizzling campaign season, with polling day set for July 4.
Farage’s quest for the Clacton crown has thrust the constituency into the spotlight, attracting a motley crew of candidates from across the political spectrum. In addition to the assault charges, Victoria Thomas Bowen will have to answer for her milkshake mayhem and stand trial alongside Farage’s other milkshake assailant.
The general election in Clacton promises a rollicking ride, with Farage and his political counterparts poised for a showdown of milkshake-missiles.
