DOHA: Qatar Airways resumed flight operations on Tuesday morning after the country reopened its airspace, which had been shut down overnight due to Iran’s missile strikes on US bases in the region.
The closure, which came into effect late Monday, had caused major disruption to flights. “Due to the suspension of air traffic movement in the State of Qatar, Qatar Airways flights were temporarily suspended,” the airline said following the strikes.
In an update on Tuesday, the national carrier confirmed that services were back online. “Our priority now is to ensure passengers can continue their journeys or return home safely,” it said.
The airline warned of potential delays as operations gradually resume, advising travelers to stay updated via its official website.
Qatar, reacting to the attacks on the US Al Udeid airbase, called its response a “sovereign” matter. Iran had targeted the base in retaliation to US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
Meanwhile, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) also announced a temporary suspension of its flights to Doha, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Dubai, citing the “emerging situation in the Gulf.”
