Trump orders to deploy nuclear submarines near Russia

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Friday said he had ordered two nuclear submarines to be positioned in regions near Russia in response to threats from former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.

“Based on the highly provocative statements of the Former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev… I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform.

“Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences, I hope this will not be one of those instances.”

112,500 RUSSIAN TROOPS KILLED

Also on Friday, the US president in another social media post said “almost 20,000” Russian soldiers died in July in the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

About the overall losses suffered by Russia, he said, “Russia has lost 112,500 soldiers since the beginning of the year. That is a lot of unnecessary DEATH!”.

“Ukraine, however, has also suffered greatly. They have lost approximately 8,000 soldiers since January 1, 2025, and that number does not include their missing. Ukraine has also lost civilians, but in smaller numbers, as Russian rockets crash into Kyiv, and other Ukrainian locales,” the president added.

Earlier, it was reported that at least two vessels loaded with Russian oil bound for refiners in India have diverted to other destinations following new US sanctions.

TWO DEAD ECONOMIES

“I don’t care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care.”

“We have done very little business with India, their Tariffs are too high, among the highest in the World. Likewise, Russia and the USA do almost no business together. Let’s keep it that way,” he added.
