ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned of heavy rains and the risk of urban flooding in several parts of the country starting Thursday morning.
As per the Met Office, heavy downpours are expected in Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Murree, Galiyat, and parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). These areas could also experience flash floods due to overflowing of local streams and rivers.
Meanwhile, rain was forecast for Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Sialkot. There is a strong likelihood of urban flooding due to poor drainage infrastructure.
Authorities issued an advisory for the citizens, urging them to remain on high alert, especially in vulnerable regions. Travellers heading to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and AJK were advised to exercise caution, as the likelihood of landslides and mudslides blocking roads remains high.
