JI’s Hafiz Naeem forfeitures Sindh Assembly seat

KARACHI: Jamaat-i-Islami Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announced on Monday that he is relinquishing a Sindh Assembly seat he secured in the February 8 elections due to alleged rigging.

As per the provisional results issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan for the February 8 general elections, Naeem emerged victorious from the PS-129 constituency (Karachi Central VIII) with 26,296 votes.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Naeem asserted that his PTI-backed opponent secured the seat, and he refuses to accept a “charity” position. He stated his decision to relinquish the seat while affirming his commitment to pursue legal and political avenues to reclaim all seats lost by his party due to rigging.

“You cannot change the people’s mind through fake mandate,” he said.
