PTI stages district-level protest in Peshawar

Peshawar News

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led a district-level protest on Friday, with demonstrators rallying against what they termed the “oppression of the rulers.”

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Information Advisor Barrister Saif addressed the crowd, accusing the government of systematically targeting PTI through constitutional amendments aimed at weakening the party’s influence.

“Attempts are being made to suppress PTI through constitutional amendments,” said Barrister Saif. He said that the ruling authorities are inflicting significant damage on the country, both politically and economically. The protests were also directed at what PTI views as the unjust imprisonment of its former chairman and several key political figures, including members of the provincial assembly and party workers.

The PTI supporters expressed outrage over the arrests, calling them “politically motivated”. Barrister Saif said, “People are protesting against the unjust imprisonment of their former prime minister Imran Khan,” adding that the party will continue its demonstrations until all political prisoners, including Imran Khan, are released.

Barrister Saif also accused the rulers of attempting to stifle judicial independence. He alleged that undue pressure is being exerted in Parliament to pass constitutional amendments that would further tighten control over democratic institutions.
