IMF proposes digital overhaul for Pakistan’s budget making process

WEB DESK: The technical assistance mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reassured Pakistan by proposing solutions for digitising the budget-making process.
According to the Ministry of Finance, Dr Shamshad Akhtar, the Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue, and Economic Affairs, chaired the meeting of the IMF Technical Assistance Mission on digitising the budget process at the Finance Division today.
The IMF Technical Assistance Mission, led by Fazeer Rahim and Sybi Hida, senior economists from the Public Financial Management Division, was accompanied by the IMF Resident Representative in Pakistan, Esther Pérez Ruiz.

During the meeting, the Finance Minister highlighted the importance of tailoring the recommendations to the specific needs of the Ministry to enhance the effectiveness of the budget-making process through digitisation.
The technical assistance mission has committed to proposing implementable solutions to the ministry.
