LAHORE: The price of flour has started to rise once again, following the recent increase in wheat prices. According to reports, after a brief decline in flour prices with the arrival of the new wheat crop, prices are now on the rise again.

In Lahore and Rawalpindi divisions, the price of a bag of flour has surged by up to Rs100 as wheat prices have climbed.

Sources indicate that the price of a 20-kilogramme flour bag has increased from Rs1,600 to Rs1,700 in Lahore, and from Rs1,850 to Rs1,950 in Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, the price of a 10-kilogramme flour bag has risen from Rs800 to Rs850.

Chairman of the Pakistan Flour Mills Association, Asim Raza, stated that the increase in flour prices is a direct result of the rise in wheat prices. In Lahore, the price of wheat has gone up from Rs2,900 to Rs2,950 per maund, while in Rawalpindi division, it has reached Rs3,050 per maund.

Flour mill owners have expressed concerns that flour prices may continue to rise in the coming days.
