IMF board likely to approve next tranche to Pakistan on January 11

ISLAMABAD: The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund is expected to approve the next $700 million tranche for Pakistan in its meeting scheduled to be held on January 11, 2024, it was learnt on Friday.

The Fund’s Executive Board is likely to approve the next installment for Pakistan in its meeting in January next year which is part of a $3 billion Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) programme.

Gold prices in Pakistan witness slight increase

On the completion of the first economic review, a staff-level agreement was reached between Pakistan and the IMF on November 15. Pakistan has already received $1.2 billion from the loan programme.

The second economic review talks for the last tranche of the programme i.e. $1.1 billion are expected in February 2024. – INP
