Pakistan earns over $206 million by providing transport services

WEB DESK: In the initial quarter of the fiscal year 2023–24, Pakistan generated a total of $206.928 million through providing diverse transport services in various nations.

This figure represents a 6.78 per cent reduction compared to the earnings in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, which amounted to $221.969 million, as reported by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The statistics provided by the PBS indicate a notable decline in the exports of sea transport services, plummeting by 42.86 per cent from $52.660 million in the prior year to $30.090 million in the current period under review.

Within the category of sea transport services, the exports of freight services experienced a substantial decline of 69.59 per cent, decreasing from $42.060 million to $12.790 million.

Conversely, other sea transport services demonstrated an upward trend, marking a 63.21 per cent increase from $10.600 million to $17.300 million in the current fiscal year.

The exports of air transport services, on the other hand, observed a positive growth of 3.58 per cent, rising from $163.449 million to $169.298 million during the period spanning July to September 2023.

In the domain of air transport services, the exports of passenger services increased by 2.84 per cent, reaching $108.100 million from $105.110 million.

However, the exports of freight services witnessed a decrease of 18.92 per cent, declining from $8.670 million to $7.030 million.

Additionally, the export of other air transport services demonstrated an increase of 9.06 per cent, ascending from $49.669 million to $54.168 million.

Simultaneously, the exports of road transport services experienced robust growth, marking a substantial increase of 69.75 per cent from $3.670 million to $6.230 million in the current fiscal year.

Within the category of road transport services, the exports of freight services encountered a decrease of 12.93 per cent, declining from $1.160 million to $1.010 million.

Furthermore, the export of postal and courier services showed a reduction of 40.18 per cent, decreasing from $2.190 million to $1.310 million, according to the available data.
