Interbank closing: PKR gains 17.62 paisa against USD


USD in PKR intraday update

WEB DESK: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 17.62 paisa against the US dollar (USD) in Friday’s interbank session, closing at PKR 278.33 per USD.

This marks a slight improvement from the previous session’s closing rate of PKR 278.50 per USD.

During the session, the rupee experienced an intraday high (bid) of PKR 278.80 and a low (ask) of PKR 278.60. In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.25 for buying and PKR 280.00 for selling.

On a weekly basis, however, the local currency lost 12 paisa against the USD.

Performance against other currencies

The PKR showed mixed performance against other major currencies:

British Pound (GBP): The rupee appreciated by 30.74 paisa, closing at PKR 353.63 compared to the previous day’s rate of PKR 353.93.

Swiss Franc (CHF): The rupee gained 1.56 rupees, ending the session at PKR 307.58 from PKR 306.01.

Euro (EUR): The rupee depreciated by 22.71 paisa, closing at PKR 301.23 compared to PKR 301.01 on Thursday.

Chinese Yuan (CNY): The rupee remained stable, closing at PKR 38.43, the same as the previous session.

Saudi Riyal (SAR): The rupee weakened by 4.7 paisa, closing at PKR 74.21 from PKR 74.25.

U.A.E Dirham (AED): The rupee decreased by 5.1 paisa, ending at PKR 75.83 compared to PKR 75.78 a day earlier.

Japanese Yen (JPY): The rupee appreciated slightly by 0.3 paisa, closing at PKR 1.7711 versus PKR 1.7741.

During the current financial year, the PKR has appreciated by 7.66 rupees or 2.75 per cent against the dollar. In the current calendar year, the local unit has seen a gain of 3.53 rupees or 1.27 per cent.
