ISLAMABAD: The latest petrol price in Pakistan is now set at Rs259. 34 per litre after the reduction of Rs8 per litre, as announced by Government on Tuesday.

The price of diesel will also remain unchanged at Rs276.21 for the next two weeks.

According to the notification issued by Government of Pakistan Finance division the petrol prices have been slashed as per the recommendations given by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s (Ogra).

The prices of kerosene oil and light diesel oil have been reduced by Rs1.97 and Rs0.92 per litre, respectively, until the next fortnightly review.

The reduction is attributed to the global decline in prices, the appreciation of the rupee against the US dollar, and a reduction in the premium on petroleum products.

January 16: Petrol prices in Pakistan expected to witness major dip

The latest petrol prices will be applicable nationwide, from Tuesday, January 16 covering major cities such as Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Gujrat.

The caretaker government provided significant relief to Pakistanis by reducing petrol prices by Rs40 per liter on October 16, 2023. Subsequently, on November 16, the government implemented a further reduction of Rs2. In the last reduction of 2023, the government decreased the prices of petroleum products by Rs14 per liter.
