Sindh senior minister invites investment in transport sector

KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has invited international investment in transport sector of the province.
A delegation of foreign international investors met with Memon here today to discuss transport projects. The minister invited the investors to invest in Karachi Circular Railway, bullet train, bus manufacturing plants, EV buses, and Karachi BRT [Bus Rapid Transit].
International investors also expressed interest in the projects mentioned by the minister, along with starting electric vehicles (EV) taxi service. Sharjeel Memon said that the Sindh government also plans to start EV taxi service. He said that it will open new employment opportunities.
“Sindh government will provide all possible support to investors, including establishing charging depots for EV buses and EV taxis,” Memon said, adding that if a bullet train is established from Karachi to Sukkur, or a high-speed train is planned, it will be a huge project and millions of people will benefit from it.
“Transport Investment in the sector will facilitate the public, investors will also benefit greatly,” Memon added.
The senior minister said that projects like bullet train and sustainable EV infrastructure are important for modernising our transport sector. “KCR is included in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and it is [among the] most important projects,” the minister said, adding “We want investors to invest in this project”.
EV bus plant in Dhabeji Economic Zone is a mega project. The Sindh government will also provide all facilities for the establishment of EV bus plant in Dhabeji Economic Zone, the minister said.
“Pakistan, especially Sindh, has a favorable environment for business people in every respect. Investors acknowledge Pakistan’s strategic advantages as a gateway to South Asia and Central Asia,” he said.
The delegation of international investors also discussed technical and financial cooperation for transport projects with the minister. During this discussion, Memon said that Pakistan-China friendship has been “historic and exemplary”. The delegation said that China has made large investments in Pakistan. “Pakistan is a huge market for investment, has a huge workforce,” the meeting attendees said.
