Higher toll rates effective from today for key motorways, highways

WEB DESK: The National Highways Authority (NHA) has increased toll taxes on highways and motorways, effective from October 1, 2024.

This move aims to achieve a hefty target of Rs102 billion by the end of the 2024-25 fiscal year, up from Rs64 billion in 2023-24.

As of today, motorists will be paying higher tolls across various key routes, including the Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M3), Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad-Multan Motorway (M4), Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M5), D I Khan-Hakla Motorway (M14), and the Mansehra Expressway.

On national highways, toll rates have also increased. Cars will now be charged Rs50, up from Rs40. Wagons will pay Rs90, while buses will see their toll rise to Rs170 from Rs130. The toll for two and three-axle trucks is now Rs210, while articulated trucks will be charged Rs460, up from the previous Rs350.

According to Business Recorder, for the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M1), car tolls have increased from Rs350 to Rs460. Wagons will now pay Rs720, compared to the previous Rs550, while bus tolls have risen from Rs1,000 to Rs1,300. Truck tolls have jumped from Rs1,500 to Rs1,950.

Additionally, tolls have been raised at other key locations, such as the Kohat Tunnel (N55), Islamabad-Murree-Kohala Highway (N75), and Mianwali Toll Plaza (N135), leading to increased charges for all commuters.
