Intraday trade: PKR loses seven paisa against USD


USD to PKR intraday trade

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) witnessed slight depreciation against the US dollar (USD) as it dipped 0.03 per cent during the initial trading hours on the third trading day of the week.

Before 10:30 AM, the local currency was seen at Rs278.12 after it recorded a loss of seven paisa against the greenback.

Since the start of 2024, the PKR has gained Rs3.81 or 1.37 per cent against the greenback. During the ongoing financial year 2025, the rupee has gained 0.10 per cent or 29.12 paisa against the USD.

Previous closing against USD and major currencies

The PKR fell by 7.50 paisa or 0.03 per cent against the USD in Tuesday’s interbank session to end the day at Rs278.05 per USD, compared to previous closing of Rs277.98.

Here is how the Pakistani currency performed against major foreign currencies on the previous trading day:

The local currency dropped by 0.02 per cent or 1.31 paisa versus Saudi Riyal to end at Rs74.01 on Tuesday.

PKR depreciated 0.03 per cent or 2.05 paisa against the UAE Dirham to end the trade at Rs75.70.

Against the British Pound, PKR rose 0.15 per cent or 51.60 paisa to close at Rs354.31.

PKR appreciated 0.16 per cent or 46.30 paisa or against the Euro, closing the day at Rs293.20.

PKR’s value rose 0.86 per cent or 1.59 paisa to close the day at Rs1.8330 against the Japanese Yen.

The local currency depreciated 0.01 per cent or 3.14 paisa versus the Swiss franc to settle at Rs316.22.

PKR decreased 14.21 paisa or 0.37 per cent against Chinese Yuan to close at Rs38.35.

December 2: The PKR increased by 0.03 per cent, or 7.65 paisa, against the USD to end the day at Rs277.97 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs278.05.

December 3: The PKR increased by 10.48 paisa, or 0.04 per cent, against the USD to settle the trade at Rs277.87 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs277.97.

December 4: The PKR fell by 5.41 paisa, or 0.02 per cent, against the USD, settling the trade at Rs277.92 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs277.87.

December 5: The PKR fell by 0.01 per cent or 2.17 paisa against the USD to close the day at Rs277.94 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs277.92.

December 6: PKR dropped by 0.02 per cent or 6.47 paisa against the USD to settle the day at Rs278.01 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs277.94.

December 9: PKR rose by 0.01 per cent or 3.42 paisa or against the USD to settle the trade at Rs277.98 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs278.01.

December 10: PKR fell by 0.03 per cent or 7.50 paisa against the USD to settle the day at Rs278.05 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs277.98.
