Daniyal Aziz to run as independent candidate

Daniyal Aziz

ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister Daniyal Aziz has opted to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 elections.

This decision comes on the heels of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) unveiling its list of election candidates.

From Narowal, Daniyal Aziz has been out of the race as the party fielded Chaudhry Anwarul Haq from the constituency. PML-N Election Cell Ishaq Dar issued a notification.

Daniyal Aziz came into limelight after PML-N issued a show-cause notice to him for violating party rules by posting controversial tweets on X, formerly Twitter, and a statement on TV channel holding his own party leader Ahsan Iqbal responsible for hike in prices.

Daniyal Aziz in a TV talk show said that inflation is a big threat to the nation and he and his wife will contest election as an independent candidate to fight against the increased prices.

PML-N announces its candidates from Punjab

Lashing out at his own party, the PML-N leader claimed that he was not awarded tickets from NA-75 after his criticism of increased prices and inflation in PDM government.

The party fielded a young candidate in NA 51 after the refusal of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Raja Osama Ashfaq, son of former provincial minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar (late), has been awarded the PML-N ticket from NA-51.
