National Assembly seat allocation: which party secured how many seats?

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) revealed the latest party positions in the National Assembly (NA) following the recent general election held on February 8.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) emerged as the largest party with 107 seats. This includes 84 general seats and 23 reserved seats, with 19 reserved for women and four for minorities.

Following closely behind is the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) with 81 general seats. The ECP is currently still reviewing reserved seats for the party.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) trails behind with 68 seats, comprising 54 general seats and 14 reserved seats. Of the reserved seats, twelve are designated for women and two for minorities.

Similarly, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) holds 22 seats in the NA, including 17 general seats and 5 reserved seats for women and minorities.

Other notable parties include Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan-Fazl (JUI-F) with 7 seats, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) with 5, and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) with 4.

Smaller parties like Pakistan Muslim League-Zia and Balochistan National Party (BAP) each secured a single seat.

Meanwhile, independent candidates account for eight seats in the National Assembly, without affiliations to any party.

The allocation of seats to the SIC is still awaiting a final decision by the election governing body. A decision is expected by Monday, failing which the remaining 25 seats will be redistributed among other parties.

Additionally, one constituency did not conduct elections, and notifications for two seats are still pending from the ECP.
