Political unrest grips Balochistan amid electoral fraud allegations

QUETTA: Political unrest continues to escalate across various parts of Balochistan as multiple political parties rally against alleged electoral fraud.

As per reports, an alliance of four political parties called for a province-wide strike on Tuesday, vowing to sustain their protest until disputed election results are rectified. The parties are seeking broader support to force the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and other authorities to address their grievances.

Turbat experienced a complete shutdown on Monday as political parties led protests against alleged rigging. Market closures and minimal intra-city traffic highlighted the widespread impact of the demonstrations.

Protests also spread to Quetta, Chaman, Zhob, and other northern areas of Balochistan, with demonstrators staging sit-ins outside government offices.

Highways across the provinces were blocked which disrupted trade with neighbouring Afghanistan and Iran as well. Long queues of vehicles formed across blocked highways,  creating difficulties for travelers and transporters.

Meanwhile in Sindh, several parties staged protests demanding recounts and challenging declared outcomes. Hyderabad, and Sukkur among other cities experienced significant protests.
