Amitabh Bachchan tops Bollywood’s tax charts with ₹120 crore payment

WEB DESK: Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan has emerged as India’s highest tax-paying actor, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan and other Bollywood stars, according to Indian media reports.

Bachchan, popularly known as “Big B,” paid a staggering ₹120 crore (USD 14.4 million) in taxes for the fiscal year 2024–25. His total earnings during this period were estimated at ₹350 crore, placing him among the top income-generating figures in the Indian entertainment industry.

In comparison, Shah Rukh Khan was the highest taxpayer among actors last year, contributing ₹92 crore. Bachchan’s latest contribution marks a significant leap, reflecting both his enduring stardom and the scale of his income from films, endorsements, and television.

Apart from his acting career, Bachchan continues to be one of the most sought-after faces for major brands. His long-running role as the host of the hit television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati has cemented his popularity across generations, adding substantially to his earnings.

Reports also highlight Bachchan’s vast wealth. His assets are estimated to exceed ₹3,000 crore, including jewellery worth nearly ₹55 crore and a luxury collection of 16 cars valued at ₹17.66 crore.
